sort(1)
is a POSIX 1003.2 conformant implementation based on -lrecsort
by Phong Vo and Glenn Fowler with key encoding by Doug McIlroy.
In addition to the POSIX formats,
sort
also supports fixed length binary record data.
It runs faster than
/bin/sort
for a large class of data, although there are exceptions; please let
us know.
